Art Profile

Throughout High School I spent much of my free time drawing faces, always interested in capturing the expression and individuality of the person.  After graduating from Syracuse University with a B.A. degree, I joined the Peace Corps as part of a 2 year Rural Community DevelopmentProgram in Venezuela.

Settling in Los Angeles after the Peace Corps I studied art at various schools including Art Center College of Design, Otis Art Institute, and Art League of Los Angeles, as well as studying with accomplished artists such as Glen Vilppu, Arnold Schiffrin, Max Turner, and Hal Reed.  I then began teaching oil painting and drawing to adults and children in my art studio.  After teaching for 7 years, I decided to go back to school for my Masters Degree to become a therapist.  Currently, I am a licensed Marriage, Family Therapist in private practice, in Woodland Hills and Thousand Oaks, and I have continued painting throughout the years.

I have presented a series of my art work at several conferences, including Creativity and Madness, in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1991, and the CAMFT Annual Conference in 1994.  Using slides of 80 of my paintings that I did over an 8 year period, I took the audience along with me through my own journey, from darkness into light, healing, wholeness, and hope.

In viewing my paintings you may see that I have been drawn to the study of metaphysics and spirituality.  I have concentrated on Eastern philosophies and religions, along with Shamanic healing practices.  Currently, I am involved with a New Thought Spiritual Center. My paintings, in fact, reflect the work I do both asa therapist and as a spiritual/shamanic healer, since my healing work constantly brings me in touch with the depth of the human soul and spirit.
